天津大爆炸當夜，周邊建築的玻璃被氣浪震碎四射成為殺人利器。一名台商當晚出席麻將牌局，爆炸回家後發現，尖銳的玻璃碎片直直插入床墊，如果當時在家睡覺，早已遭「萬箭穿心」，驚險逃過一劫。

台商仇俊候表示，當晚的牌局意外成為大家的「保命符」。台商賴進發返家後赫然發現，床鋪不僅位移、床單被掀翻，更有大塊的玻璃碎片如同利刃般直插床墊，如果人在床上，恐慘遭「利刃封喉、萬箭穿心」。

一名顏姓台商在爆炸後，連夜拉著家人急忙跑下24樓外出避難。天亮後回家收拾細軟，發現家中慘遭小偷闖空門，電腦、耳機、手錶、台胞證、護照全遭竊。

天津台辦表示，有20餘家台資企業在爆炸中受損。災損最嚴重的當屬長華國際物流，是長榮的子公司，距爆炸點僅500公尺。

台商湯自強形容，「廠房整個被炸翻，一萬個貨櫃、3000平方米倉庫幾乎沒了」。據了解，該廠2007年投資了2.5億元人民幣，現被爆炸夷為平地，損失也有保險理賠；17名員工全部救出，其中2人重傷。

另外一家穩泰塑膠，是統力電池的協力廠商，爆炸後大樑嚴重變形、結構受損，廠房修復、設備維修，損失約人民幣759萬。

爆炸發生後，台商彼此伸出援手。住家受損必須安置的，除了自行投宿飯店外，不少台商提供工廠多餘的宿舍床位，讓同鄉有個臨時落腳的地方。台商湯自強也主動撥出辦公室一角，讓其他台商有個臨時辦公室。
